MEET OUR CEO

Henry Maury

Henry joined the GSA Office of Governmentwide Policy (OGP) shortly after it was established, in early 1996. Previously, Henry had worked for 22 years in GSA’s Federal Supply Service, in various positions related to GSA’s global supply operations.

In March 1999, Henry took over management of OGP’s mail policy program. During 2002, Henry and his team spoke to more than 6,000 people, helping to inform them and allay their fears during the anthrax crisis.

In October 2005, Henry took over management of OGP’s employee relocation policy program. His team implemented the recommendations of the Government Relocation Advisory Board, established the Executive Relocation Steering Committee, published three new relocation handbooks, and drafted two legislative packages and many regulatory changes. In October 2008, Henry added management of the team responsible for transportation policy to his portfolio.

Henry retired from federal service in January 2011. From June 2011 until April 2013, he served as executive director of the Center for Plain Language, and he is still actively involved with the Center. In addition, he has undertaken a number of consulting and teaching roles.

Piedmont Maury Consulting provides consulting services in plain language regulation writing and federal administrative functions, including official travel, employee relocation, freight transportation, and mail operations. It also provides courses in official travel, employee relocation, and plain language writing.

Henry has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Pomona College and credits towards a master’s degree in elementary education. He is also a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute’s “Leadership for a Democratic Society” program.
